Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

King Street Townhouse Hotel & Spa in Manchester city centre is seeking an experienced Maintenance Operative to join our team. This role involves maintaining the mechanical, electrical, and other systems within our luxury hospitality environment.

The hotel also includes King Street Tavern (bar, restaurant and wine cellars), afternoon tea rooms, conferencing & event space, gym and treatment rooms, which are available to hotel guests. King Street Townhouse boasts some amazing features, such as its rooftop infinity spa pool, with views of the spires and clock tower of Manchester’s iconic town hall. The hotel prides itself in its reputation for special events and occasions. As such we are very popular for christenings, wedding parties, anniversaries and birthday celebrations. PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other systems
  • Conduct small fix and re-decorative works including painting, wallpapering, joinery, and carpentry to high visual standards
  • Maintain and operate HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and building management systems
  • Manage a small portfolio of wet leisure facilities including spa pool, steam room, and gym equipment
  • Conduct temperature monitoring and Legionella compliance tasks
  • Perform facility inspections and report conditions affecting operations
  • Escort specialist contractors and collaborate with them as required
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and comply with all safety procedures
  • Support after-hours building needs and activities as necessary
  • Perform other assigned tasks as requested

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will have/be:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Technician in a luxury hospitality or leisure environment, with repair, fault finding, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan ahead and prioritize workload effectively
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive 'can do' attitude and proactive approach to work
  • Good computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office packages
  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, ONC, OND) would be advantageous
