Role: Retention Marketing Manager

Job Overview:

Biossance was born when our scientists invented a skin-identical hydrating molecule—squalane—that’s made from sustainable fermented sugarcane. Creating the world’s most incredible and powerful moisturizer led to creating the world’s most powerful skincare formulas. We use first-of-its kind proprietary fermentation technology to biodesign new, high-performing ingredients. The incredible research and development teams in our labs are leading the way to a healthier planet with our exceptional clean chemistry.

As the Retention Marketing Manager, you will be a part of our Biossance E-Commerce team, owning and leading high-performing retention channels in support of our fast-growing business. As a Retention Marketing Manager, this role will strategize and execute robust Email, SMS, and Loyalty campaigns to drive revenue, engagement, and list growth driving first-time and repeat purchase for new and existing customers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, solutions-oriented, and has a passion for beauty.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Retention Planning

  • Drive strategy, sales and engagement growth for email and SMS programs, identifying new opportunities to improve ROI through improved content strategies and AB testing.
  • Support loyalty program with personalized marketing segmentation and promotional strategy across channels including triggered flow campaigns.
  • Effectively collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure overall email and SMS performance, including implementing new technical functionalities and implementing optimizations to grow the business.
  • Partner cross-channel with marketing teams to ensure a seamless, holistic and on-brand client experience across every lifecycle marketing touchpoint.
  • Keep abreast of market, consumer trends and competition.
  • Develop, manage and communicate high-level circulation, testing and planning strategy.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Forecast, prepare and manage the financial objectives and budgets for the email program and SMS program.
  • Prepare weekly reports to share insights, learnings, and performance with Leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Be an expert on our customers through user research, analyzing customer experience, behavior, and segmentation. Use customer data to personalize marketing and triggered campaigns.
  • Identify A/B testing opportunities to optimize conversion rates and engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze email and SMS performance trends for usability and conversion optimization with a focus on sales and engagement.
  • Staying up-to-date on industry trends and pilot new tactics to maximize the impact anc achieve business objectives, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Campaign Management

  • Own, manage and execute email and SMS marketing programs campaigns, leading strategy, vision, calendar, AB test roadmap, campaign brief planning across all product, content and promotional marketing activations, including triggered and transactional flows.
  • Monitor and analyze channel performance trends on a daily and weekly basis for usability and conversion optimization with a focus on revenue, file size growth and other relevant KPI’s.
  • Ensure quality and on-time execution of all email and SMS campaigns.
  • Own and oversee daily email + SMS execution. Develop an in-depth understanding of current business policies/procedures and operations while determining optimal program execution methods.
  • Manage Email Service Provider relationship and contract agreements.
  • Ensure legal compliance (Can-SPAM, Canada restrictions.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Email Marketing, SMS Marketing
  • College graduate with a degree in Business, Marketing or related field. MBA a plus
  • Experience with email and marketing platforms (i.e. Listrak, Klaviyo) with an understanding of other interactive marketing channels and their marketing principles
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret and translate data into action and effectively report performance, insights + learnings to Leadership. Advanced Excel skills required. Experience with Google Analytics and Tableau preferred
  • Experience with managing triggered, transactional, and personalized email + SMS campaigns from ideation to execution
  • Proven business strategy, planning, analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of customer acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Efficient in strong, on-brand storytelling via copy and creative across all retention channels
  • Extremely detailed, project and results oriented with a passion for success
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of email + SMS marketing processes, production and circulation planning
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible and agile in the face of changing business needs
  • Ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams: site, creative, analytics, paid media, analytics, social, and digital tech
