THG LABS supports biotech breakthrough in collaboration with Clean Food Group
15-09-2025

Clean Oil 25, a sustainable alternative to traditional oil and fat ingredients, developed by Clean Food Group in collaboration with THG LABS, has received cosmetic regulatory approval - marking a major step forward for their partnership with Clean Food Group.

The milestone announced last week at the BBIA UK BioFinance Summit in London, saw our very own Kristal Goodman, Head of Product Innovation at THG LABS, speak on the panel alongside Professor Chris Chuck (Founder & Technical Lead, Clead Food Group) and Damian Kelly (President, Innovation & Technology Development, Croda International).

With approval now in place, this breakthrough ingredient paves the way for faster development of high-performance, sustainable products across skincare, haircare, and other personal care categories. It marks a major step toward bringing biotech-driven innovation to the global cosmetics industry.

Lord Vallance, Minister of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, who also addressed the audience of investors, biotech champions and policy makers, commented: “There is a unique opportunity to have the design, development and manufacture of new products and materials secured through a thriving bioeconomy. We can transition away from petrochemicals and become an engine for net zero and set an example for the rest of the world to create well paid and meaningful jobs.”
