How we hire

Every stage of our process is designed to do two things: understand what you're capable of and show you what working here is actually like.

 

We assess three things throughout - your attitude, your capability, and how you work with others. We'll also be looking at how you align with the THG DNA: the behaviours and mindset that define how we operate here.

 

Everyone who gets a first stage interview will meet a Culture Carrier – someone who lives and breathes our DNA. This is your opportunity to ask questions and decide if THG is the right environment for you.

Every step of our process is designed to help us get to know you - and just as importantly, to help you get to know us.

Timelines vary at each level, but we keep the process moving and communicate clearly throughout. If you need any reasonable adjustments at any stage – whether that’s a different interview format, additional time, or something else entirely – let us know. We’ll make it work.

Early Careers (Graduates, Interns, Apprentices)

Our Early Careers recruitment process consists of three stages and typically takes around two weeks. You’ll start with a 30‑minute conversation with our Talent team, where we’ll explore your motivations and what you’re looking for, while giving you space to ask anything you want. Next, you’ll speak with one of our Culture Carriers to understand what our values look like in action and decide whether our environment feels right for you. From there, you’ll meet your potential Hiring Manager for a face‑to‑face interview focused on how you think and approach challenges, not just what’s on your CV. For some roles, we’ll also include a short practical task to give you a chance to show how you’d approach real work here.

Experienced Hires

Our recruitment process for Experienced hires consists of four stages and typically takes around three weeks. It begins with an initial conversation over phone or video, where we’ll explore your background, what’s driving your search, and whether there’s a genuine fit to take forward. You’ll then meet the Hiring Manager for a deeper, face‑to‑face discussion focused on your judgement, experience, and track record of delivering real impact - how you work, not just what you’ve worked on. For many roles, we’ll ask you to complete a practical task based on a real business scenario. We’re not looking for a perfect answer; we’re looking at how you think, structure problems, and make decisions. Finally, you’ll have a short conversation with one of our senior leaders, giving them a chance to understand your mindset, the impact you’ve had, and how you’d operate at this level.

Executive Hires

Our executive hiring process is designed to understand your leadership DNA and ensure the role is the right match for your strengths and ambitions. It's thorough, considered, and built around real challenges. You’ll begin with an initial conversation with our Talent team, where we’ll explore your background, leadership style, and what you’re looking for at this stage in your career. From there, you’ll meet the Hiring Manager for a face‑to‑face discussion focused on how you think strategically, lead teams, and deliver meaningful impact. You’ll then take on a strategic case, working through a real business challenge before discussing your approach with a small panel. We’re interested in how you lead through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and make decisions that drive long‑term value. For roles with organisation‑wide impact, the process may also include a meeting with a member of our Executive team or our CEO to ensure full alignment at the highest level. Timelines vary for these roles.

Our commitments

1. You'll know the full process before you start it.

2. Every candidate is assessed against the same structured criteria.

3. You'll spend real time with the people you'd actually work with.

4. You'll hear back within 48 hours of your final stage (excluding Executive Hires).

5. If you've spent time with our team and are unsuccessful, we'll tell you why.

 

We don't have a perfect process. But we take it seriously, and we respect the time you put in.
