Why be a People Advisor at THG? 

As a People Advisor, you'll play a key role in delivering a proactive, commercial and people-focused HR service across Head Office functions. Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and colleagues, you'll provide practical guidance across the full employee lifecycle, helping to drive engagement, performance and organisational effectiveness.

You'll take ownership of a broad range of Employee Relations matters, analyse people data to identify trends and opportunities, and partner closely with Payroll, HR Administration and the wider People team to ensure a seamless employee experience. You'll also lead local engagement initiatives, supporting a positive, high-performing culture across the business.

As a People Advisor you’ll:  

Employee Relations

  • Take ownership of Employee Relations casework across your business areas, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance improvement plans, probation reviews and flexible working requests.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures and employment legislation.
  • Manage welfare concerns, Occupational Health referrals, reasonable adjustments and capability processes.
  • Support managers through investigations, hearings and formal meetings, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk matters to the People Business Partner as appropriate.
  • Ensure all casework is accurately documented and maintained in line with internal governance requirements.
  • Management of Parental Leave across business areas.

Performance Management

  • Coach and influence managers from a people perspective, developing their people management/leadership skills and constructively challenging inappropriate behaviours/actions
  • Ensure all cases of formal performance management are documented and recorded in line with internal audit requirements

Engagement & Development

  • Lead and coordinate engagement initiatives across the business, supporting the delivery of engagement action plans.
  • Partner with managers to improve employee experience and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Analyse engagement survey feedback and support the implementation of meaningful actions.
  • Support onboarding and induction activities to ensure a positive employee experience from day one.
  • Promote wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and recognition initiatives across the business.

People Data & Insights

  • Produce and analyse people metrics including headcount, attrition, absence, engagement and organisational data.
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities through data analysis and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Conduct exit interviews and support the creation of action plans to address key themes.
  • Support the preparation of regular people reporting and management information for business leaders.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and contribute to data quality initiatives.

Stakeholder partnerships

  • Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders across Head Office functions.
  • Work closely with Payroll, HR Administration, Recruitment and the wider People team to ensure a seamless employee experience.
  • Ensure people-related changes are communicated accurately and processed within agreed timelines.
  • Support the implementation of people initiatives, projects and organisational change activity.
  • Act as a visible and approachable point of contact for employee and manager queries.

What skills and experience do I need for this role? 

  • Previous experience in a HR Advisor, People Advisor or equivalent HR Generalist role.
  • Strong Employee Relations knowledge with experience managing a wide range of casework.
  • Good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience coaching and influencing managers at varying levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret people data and identify actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • High levels of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification desirable but not essential.
