THG Targets £150,000 Charity Partnership with The Christie
06-03-2024

THG PLC, the vertically integrated, digital first consumer brands group has joined forces with The Christie Charity in a new fundraising partnership to support one of Europe’s leading cancer treatment centres.

The 12-month partnership is a first for THG, and forms part of THG’s social impact strategy, THG in the community, which centres around THG’s plan for creating social change in local communities.

THG employees will be invited to participate in a series of fundraising events and activities from the Manchester Marathon to Dragon Boat races, with an aim to raise £75,000 for the Manchester-based charity in 2024. THG has pledged to match employee fundraising, bringing the estimated total to £150,000.

The funds will enable The Christie to offer wrap around support for patients and families navigating a cancer diagnosis, and support the building of an Advanced Scanning and Imaging Centre (ASIC). This will be a new scanning facility to future proof the service and provide patients with the very best care and treatment needed, alongside a new state-of-the-art, high-tech 4D CT scanner.

The Christie has more than 100 years of expertise in cancer care, research, and education. As one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, it treats over 60,000 patients a year and handles more than 100,000 outpatient appointments a year from 14 sites across Salford, Oldham, Macclesfield, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Tameside, Leighton, and New Mills, as well as in patients’ homes. It is the largest provider of radiotherapy in the NHS and is home to the largest chemotherapy unit in the UK.

Matt Moulding, Chief Executive Officer of THG, said: “We are delighted to partner with The Christie Charity – our first ever charity of the year. This is a cause that hits home for many THG employees and their families. We have a huge opportunity to help The Christie Charity raise awareness, and support with much-needed funding.”

Anna McIntosh, Corporate Development Manager at The Christie Charity, said: “We’re so pleased to be working with THG to improve the lives of cancer patients. The partnership is one we value highly, and we are already excited by the plans and enthusiasm shown by all at THG. We look forward to the next 12 months of activities and on behalf of Christie patients we thank all the staff at THG and the company overall for its support.”
