Why be a Head of Content at THG Beauty?  

The Head of Content owns the strategy, creation, and optimisation of content across all customer touchpoints, ensuring LOOKFANTASTIC is seen as the go-to destination for beauty education, authority, and inspiration. This role leads the end-to-end content ecosystem: from long-form SEO editorial to short-form video, branded storytelling, email copy, product content, and localisation. 

Acting as a strategic thinker, this person ensures that content not only builds trust and brand equity but also drives discoverability, conversion, and loyalty tailored for every audience, channel and stage of the customer journey. 

 

As a Head of Content, you will:  

Content Strategy 

  • Develop and lead the global content strategy, aligned to brand positioning, campaign priorities and trading moments. 
  • Define content pillars across education, inspiration, and conversion anchored in SEO, customer insight, and brand storytelling. 
  • Balance content that builds authority (e.g. expert guides, skincare routines) with content that converts (e.g. product storytelling, video demos, reviews). 
  • Champion consistency in tone, messaging, and customer lens across all formats and platforms. 

Content Creation & Editorial 

  • Lead the planning and creation of content across blog, site, email, social, app, video and campaign assets. 
  • Oversee content calendars and content production processes aligned with marketing, trading, and product teams. 
  • Build and manage the brand’s expert and editorial voice, translating complex beauty knowledge into accessible, engaging formats. 
  • Partner with Creative and Social to deliver visually-led, story-rich content that feels culturally relevant and brand-authentic. 

SEO & Optimisation 

  • Work closely with the SEO and digital teams to ensure all web content is optimised for discoverability and ranking. 
  • Identify and build content clusters that drive traffic, reduce bounce rate, and support commercial intent (e.g. “best of”, how-to, glossary formats). 
  • Continuously refine content based on performance data and user behaviour, with regular A/B testing and iteration. 

Localisation & International Markets 

  • Ensure content resonates across core international markets, through localisation, translation, and culturally-relevant adaptations. 
  • Collaborate with regional leads to align on messaging, market priorities, and local content needs. 

Team & Workflow Leadership 

  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary content team including copywriters, editors, SEO strategists, and producers. 
  • Establish efficient workflows for always-on, campaign, and reactive content needs. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external freelancers, experts, and creators to scale content output without compromising quality.

  • Senior Copywriters / Editors (Brand, SEO, CRM) 
  • Content Producers (Visual or Video) 
  • Content Strategist / Planner 
  • SEO Content Lead 
  • Localisation Manager or Translators (where applicable) 
  • Freelancers / UGC creators 

Success Measures (KPIs) 

  • Growth in organic traffic from content-led pages 
  • Dwell time and bounce rate improvements on high-impact content 
  • Uplift in conversion and AOV on content-to-commerce journeys 
  • Volume and quality of evergreen/educational content created quarterly 
  • Increase in content engagement metrics across site, app, social and email 
  • Customer satisfaction with tone of voice and site UX 
  • Content localisation accuracy and relevancy in top markets 

 

What experience & skills do I need for this role?   

  • At least 5+ years in a content or copy-related role  
  • Degree in English Language/Literature, Journalism, Marketing or Creative Writing preferred  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • A solid grasp of the English language/ grammar and ability to spot errors quickly  
  • An understanding of how to optimise content for web and app to improve user experience  
  • Knowledge of management platforms and reporting tools such as Content Square, Google Analytics and Keyword Planner
