Based – THG Labs (Acheson), Trowbridge
THG LABS offers a unique end-to-end service specialising in the development and supply of premium beauty and cosmetic products to highly respected brands and retailers on a global scale. We now have over 500 talented individuals working across our sites in Trowbridge and Frome – including a state-of-the-art laboratory and 98,000 square foot ever-developing manufacturing site.
About the role at THG Labs, Trowbridge (full time, with flexible working available)
People and Performance Manager will report to the Head of People and support in key areas including employee relations cases, data analysis and project work plus support the wider group with HR-related activities. Providing advice and guidance to staff and managers and working with them to ensure they follow processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong HR generalist background within FMCG, Retail and/or manufacturing settings.
The successful candidate should be comfortable and confident in a broad mix of strategic, transactional, and transformational work when required and in varying quantities
Role Requirements:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills, knowledge, experience, and personal attributes:
• Level 5 CIPD Qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience handling employee relations cases across different business areas in both simple and complex matters
• Proficiency in advising a range of colleagues up to and including directors on HR policies and procedures.
• Sound knowledge of current employment legislation and upcoming statutory changes
• Ability to build and maintain credible relationships with all stakeholders by influencing, negotiating, and collaborating to get the best outcomes
• Role model behaviours using a range of soft skills, communications styles, coaching, mentoring, and giving feedback
• Excellent self-management skills including emotional intelligence, emotional control, resilience, professionalism, self-motivation and accepting constructive feedback.
• Ideally, experience working as HR Generalist with working knowledge of all areas of human resource management
Responsibilities:
• Provide sound input and insight to the people agenda for THG LABS and accepting ownership for delivering assigned elements of the plan.
• Support People Lead strategic responsibilities, such as organisational change, succession planning, performance ratings, promotions, bonus process management, operational management system, and activities during peak periods.
• Establish and maintain a process of continuous review and improvement of HR related activities.
• Identify risks to business- reporting upwards and taking responsibility for minimising or removal of risks.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders to enable the people agenda to be delivered effectively in line with wider group objectives.
• Act as a trusted advisor and coach, providing expert guidance on all HR matters to managers across all sites by positively encouraging line managers to carry out the day-to-day People processes in line with policy and procedure.
• Acting as the custodian for all people related policy, processes, and best practice, ensuring consistency and fairness to all.
• Collaborate with the group People function including divisional Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams to ensure strategic targets are met and group initiatives are delivered locally to everyone
• Lead a knowledgeable and engaged team of People professionals by providing day to day support, mentorship, and encouragement, and ensuring the department functions to the high standards required.
• Development of the People team through job enrichment activities and exposure to more challenging portfolio, as mutually agreed.
• Oversee employee relations activities, including handling complex ER issues and managing cases related to sickness, flexible working, performance management, grievance, disciplinary processes, welfare, occupational health, risk assessments, amended duties, capability, and special leave arrangements- escalating high risk cases where appropriate.
• Collaborate with on-site management to establish appropriate performance metrics, hold teams accountable for deliverables, and coordinate performance management for colleagues and managers.
• Drive engagement and foster a positive culture through the creation and delivery of engagement activities aligned with the overall strategy, participation in communication forums, and support in action plan development.
• Develop managers and colleagues in coaching skills and HR processes, deliver HR module training to the internal management team, support diversity and inclusion initiatives, and champion the development of people management skills across all sites.
• Identify and agree with Head of People personal development activities and objectives that demonstrate the growth mindset to self, team, and stakeholders
• Any other reasonable additional responsibilities associated with the role including deputising for Head of People and any other member of the People team when essential or delegating such tasks if appropriate.
