About THG x Planet Earth and the Role

THG has recently published its 2030 sustainability Strategy – THG x Planet Earth, with the long-term goal of leaving the world better than we found it by utilising our unique capacity for innovation and incorporating sustainability into every decision we make.

The ideal candidate must have expert-level knowledge of carbon footprint and life cycle assessment methodologies to ensure THG has an accurate and credible method for measuring carbon footprint and future reductions. Secondly, the candidate must have a solid understanding of Circular Economy and Sustainable Design principles and the ability to translate these ideals into actionable and measurable initiatives to help us meet the THG x Planet Earth. The successful candidate will have industry experience (preferably in consumable industries) leading programs related to energy, resource and waste management as well as have detailed knowledge of manufacturing, design, development, and/or sourcing. The successful candidate must have strong analytical skills and the ability to apply systems thinking to complex, fast-moving problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Life-Cycle Assessments for THG’s Supply Chain (products, services, logistics and end of life management of equipment) including modeling, data collection, data analysis, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Candidate must have a solid understanding of the consumable industry, including the specific challenges related to products and its supply chain and their impacts on carbon footprint.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in Sustainability and Carbon
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with THG’s supply chain to efficiently design, implement, and measure sustainability programs.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and metrics which distill complex data into actionable insights;
  • Effectively communicate to senior business leaders by translating the highly complex topic of carbon footprint measurement into clear impacts, risks, and next steps for THG.
  • Promote and sell-in the LCA analytics, assessment, and reporting services to prospective clients

Requirements: 

  • 6 + years leading sustainability initiatives
  • Expert-level knowledge of environmental/carbon footprinting methods and a familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment software such as GaBi and SimaPro;
  • Familiarity with leading standards for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) including ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.
  • Superior analytical, written and verbal communication skills;
  • A good understanding of statistics, and of scripts (e.g. Python, SQL) and approaches to extract, analyse, and modify data
  • Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental engineering, environmental science, industrial ecology, or related fields.
