Why be a Head of Beauty Technology at THG?

Reporting into the Ecommerce Director, the Head of Beauty Technology is responsible for the global THG beauty technology development and utilisation to ensure we are progressing our technology offering vs market, following best practice, and ensuring all relevant teams are making best use out of the technology we have and onboard.  

You’ll also play a crucial role in terms of stakeholder management between the beauty SLT, the technology SLT and implementation teams to ensure we have a collaborative and effective working relationship.  

 

As a Head of Beauty Technology, you'll:

  • Be an expert in the co-ordination and delivery of technology improvements and newness across THG beauty, aligned with the strategic priorities for each of the business.  
  • Collaborate with the ecommerce director, managing directors and technology teams to understand and help prioritise the technology that receives resource across the year.  
  • Close collaboration with the internal beauty technology team to ensure they’re completely clear on our beauty priorities which can be fully owned and delivered via this team, vs the central team and where projects require collaboration between the teams.  
  • Lead on improving processes between THG beauty and the central technology team to ensure we have a clear road map and regular lines of communication on key projects which require central support.  
  • Revise the way in which we report upon technology, with a monthly update email/session to ensure all key stakeholders are clear on tech progress, next steps and any current blockers to ensure there is shared accountability.  
  • Lead on identification of exciting new potential technology in market which we should be looking to either onboard or build in house, with the focus on being the leading digital online beauty retailer.  
  • Revise the current approach to measurement to ensure we always have a clear view of the costs associated with external technology and a running view on ROI by partner.  

Team Development

  • Develop upon the current global relationships in place across the THG beauty structure, ensuring all areas of the business feel supported and equally can collaborate on their requirements. 
  • Gives clear guidance to team members ensuring quarterly objectives are set and monitored and continuous feedback is given to the team to aid their development. 
  • Develops skills of the team – identifies individual training needs as well as encourages effective teamwork, KPI setting and communicating clear goals/targets. 
  • Motivates team – gives recognition and praise, implementing incentives to drive performance within the team. 
  • Provides support to new team members – ensures a full induction is provided and support during the learning process. 

 

What Skills and Experience Do I Need?

  • The ambition, motivation, and determination required to build a high performing team and drive business transformation.
  • 7+ Years experience in Commercial/Product Management/Project Management roles in a D2C eCommerce environment, including considerable experience in a leadership role
  • Significant proven experience building and developing a medium to large sized team, including recruitment, performance management and team health and culture building.
  • Proven experience delivering cross functional success across matrixed organisations.
  • Appropriate competency with relevant tools and software (e.g. Excel Suite Google Analytics, Tableau, Content Square) to allow for the governance of, and upskilling of team.
