Chief Buying Officer – THG Beauty

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Buying Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive global buying strategy aligned with THG Beauty’s business objectives and growth ambitions.
    • Develop and implement buying framework to support and drive category level performance including category plans, range reviews and trade plans
    • Develop and implement a tiered brand partnership model, such as a "Grow, Maintain, Decline" that rewards and incentivises fully invested partnership and mutual profitability
    • Work with internal and external insights to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and market opportunities to gain market share within THG Beauty’s key territories
    • Work with Growth Director to align on strategic principles for bringing incremental New Business into THG Beauty in a manner that supports and protects the differentiated strategy of LookFantastic and Cult Beauty
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, marketing, and operations to ensure maximum efficiency in commercial operations
  • Supplier Management:
    • Align with Buying Leadership on annual and monthly sales and margin targets and support Buying Directors in preparing, managing, and delivering the brand budgets
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favourable terms, and ensuring the highest quality and timely delivery of products.
    • Establish a consistent and strategic approach to global Joint Business Planning to cement our position as the 'partner of choice'
    • Work with Buying Directors to establish a clear strategy and roadmap to improving THG Beauty margins in sustainable manner in all divisions and territories over a medium term planning horizon
  • Financial Management:
    • Establish a Strategic approach to the buying budget, that improves profitability across the global THG Beauty business through improving brand & category mix, and optimisation of investments into discount and any other relevant strategic initiatives
    • Establish consistent KPIs and metrics for the Buying team to report on including, but not limited to, intake margin, investment into the customer offer (including effective us of funded promotional support) and Trading GP%
    • Develop and implement a pricing and promotional strategy at a category and brand level that provides THG Beauty with a clear and commercially viable market position in all divisions globally
    • Work collaboratively with Merchandising team to manage an effective stock file, balancing KPIs across availability, stock and cover levels, aged stock and ensuring intake optimises delivery of intake-related retro investments
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead a high-performing buying team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities
    • Work with senior team members to ensure individuals have clear targets and objectives aligned with divisional goals, and provide a culture of feedback and development to ensure every member of the team are able to reach their potential
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that ensures all levels within the Buying team are able to work effectively with all internal stakeholders to deliver the wider commercial objectives of the division
