Job Title: Assistant Product Marketing Manager

Job Overview: 

THG Nutrition is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Assistant Product Marketing Manager to join our product marketing team and own the branded side of packaging. This role will have you working with some of the market’s most innovative products on a global scale. You will lead the creative packaging strategy and execution, prioritising design consistency across the Masterbrand, including new product development formats, licensing / partnerships and continual packaging improvements.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design Strategy Development:
    • Continually develop strategic approach to packaging development, ensuring brand alignment and consistency across categories.  
    • Packaging Development Oversight: Manage the packaging development process from briefing to design development, artwork, and print in collaboration with product marketing, brand team, NPD, packaging procurement and design teams. 
  • Quality Assurance: 
    • Ensure packaging products are developed to the highest standards and final products meet agreed specifications and brand guidelines. 
  • Customer-Focused Copy:  
    • Ensure on-pack copy is customer-facing, fit for purpose, and compliant. 
  • Continuous Improvement: 
    • Monitor packaging complaints to ensure continuous development and improvement of our packaging. 
  • Competitive Benchmarking: 
    • Analyse competitor designs to identify opportunities for improvement in formats, customer experience, copy, and design. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
    • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience. 
  • Supplier and Procurement Liaison:  
    • Collaborate with suppliers and the Packaging Procurement teams to find innovative packaging formats suitable for our range. 
  • Sustainability Champion: 
    • Working with the central sustainability lead, being an advocate for sustainability, ensuring the range is as eco-friendly as possible. 
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: 
    • Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality, in partnership with Packaging Procurement and Engineering. 
  • Project Management : 
    • Manage multiple briefs across a wide portfolio, liaise with stakeholders between creative teams, artwork, NPD and other stakeholders to provide prompt and timely updates, ensuring lead-times are adhered to  

Objectives 

  • Business growth and brand alignment:
    • Test, model, and implement revenue-enhancing opportunities through packaging exploration to meet consumer demands and changing industry landscapes
  • Continuous Improvements: 
    • Design and implement strategies to continually evolve packaging formats, user experience, and striving to achieve sustainability targets.
  • New product exploration: 
    • Collaborate with design teams to implement design strategies for new ranges, including partnerships and limited editions. 
  • Industry Leader:
    • Benchmark the brand against competitors and monitor complaints to ensure our packaging is industry-leading, sustainable, and high-quality. 

The Person 

Essential Requirements 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant field (Brand roles with experience working on packaging)
  • Creativity and innovation with a keen visual eye
  • Strong communication skills and resilience to coordinate and convey packaging vision to team members and external partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and work with a variety of people at all levels.
  • Drive for results with accountability for success.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. 

Preferred Requirements 

  • Interest and knowledge in the sports, health, and wellbeing markets.
  • Keen interest in sustainability with some experience.
  • Relationship management experience.
  • Experience with web analytics tools (preferably Google Analytics).
  • Experience in FMCG or CPG.
  • Understanding of digital marketing techniques and tools (PPC, Email, Social, SEO, PR) and an interest in data and insights.
